This tree is far larger than what is shown. Positioned downtown in a business district seems out of place. The red flowers are numerous and extend upward. The are two people on the left side which are hard to spot.
Postcrip... Tom Beech of pbase named the tree and it is described in Wikipedia.The description matches this tree. I remember Kapok used in Life jackets many years ago.
