Carrier landing

Judging by the angled deck this was taken in 1956. Note the plane on the left ready to be towed. It was brought up from the hangar deck on the deck edge elevator to the flight deck in preparation for launch.

Another thing that amazes me about these, considering how old they are, is how good the color is. This is another documentary worthy action image that I imagine would have been hard to get for most people shooting in 1956 considering film speed and so forth. ~BV~

Great photo of the landing. Was Randolph initially built with the angle deck? I know that the Antietam was the first converted to an angle deck, so I'm guessing that the Randolph was converted (vs scratch built) along with other Essex class flattops.
