This is the ramp that Evil Knievel used to make his 1974 attempt to ride/fly a rocket propelled motorcycle across the Snake River. According to accounts the parachute deployed early and he almost made it to the other side, but the wind blew him back to the original starting side and he landed on dry land in the gorge without serious injury.
