THE PREVIOUS IMAGE, HEAVILY CROPED TO SHOW A VERY SMALL PORTION OF THE IMAGE FILE

The Sony 16mm f/2.8 e-mount lens has taken a lot of undeserved flack about quality. Is it as good at the Sony/Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 e-mount lens? Of course not, especially if you are a 100% crop, "pixel peeper". And, then, there's that $700 (U.S.) price difference to consider! Is the 16mm a good, usable lens for most folks with Sony NEX cameras? Absolutely! Unless you plan to make EXTREMELY big prints, you likely would be very happy with the lens.

This image was taken at a relatively high ISO 1600. Images made with the 16mm lens at lower ISOs would show detail even better.

ISO 1600. Aperture priority, with a +1 stop manual exposure compensation. Standard color. Automatic white balance. 35mm equivalent focal length of 24mm.
