GPS LIGHTNING? - A VERY STRANGE EFFECT!

I was in my car, bored and waiting for my granddaughter to come out of the movie theater. I had my new LX5 camera with me and decided to play around with it. I shot a few photos of the GPS unit on my car dash and this was the end result. I am not sure what created this weird, lighting-like effect, but it's very strange indeed. The "lightning" appears to follow the outline of the tree tops in the background. The car was facing toward the setting sun.

Macro lens setting. ISO 125. 35mm equivalent focal length of 55mm. Standard color film mode.

Good catch! I meant to say, "toward the setting sun"! Now corrected. Thanks.

Your GPS says facing West....wouldn't that be facing the sunset, not away from it??? Anyway, rather interesting anyway...
