Willemstad, Curaçao

History tells us that an early Governor of the Island suffered from severe migraines that were aggravated by the color white, so all the houses were painted in hues from magenta to mauve. Located 35 miles (56km) north of Venezuela and is the largest of the Netherlands Antilles. In the early 1600's massive ramparts were built, along the sea (as seen) to defend itself against British and French invasions.
