It all started with the vintage dress. I asked permission to take photographs inside the shop, and the manager was kind enough to let me do so.

What a wonderfully creative and adventurous way to spend a weekday afternoon while, contrariwise, most of us would spend that time much less productively at the nearest eatery or shopping mall instead. LOL

Great, fun images, Naomi. Way to go! I'm betting the owner and manager will say you captured the spirit of their shop. :-)

Some great lacey, frilly, eye catching clothes and accesories in this shop - for sure.
I should imagine some pretty difficult compositions to achieve also in a confined shop area...though you've done really well to capture both close up and interesting angles.

I asked permission to take these pictures, and made arrangements in advance to do it at the manager's convenience. She was very pleasant and helped me find this great dress to wear while I took the pictures. I am a regular customer at the shop, so I know the owner and manager quite well, too.

Fun theme. Did you have any trouble with the shop owner? I often feel self conscious in little stores with my camera. I sometimes feel "watched" suspiciously as if the shopkeep is worried I'm casing the joint. Also at the farmer's markets the vendors are often quite stingy with their arrangements, acting as if you're taking something from them if you shoot their displays. I once had a conversation with a vendor who expressed just that.."I take all the time to grow, transport and arrange my produce and then you people with cameras come along and snap it all up as if it's free domain. How do I know what you're doing with these photos? Are you making money on them?!"
Well, actually, it is free domain. Nobody owns light and unless they own the property they're set up on, they can't actually prevent a photographer from taking pics. Still, I always ask and generally respect their wishes if they say no. (but that's what telephoto lenses are for, no?!)
Anyway...again..great theme here. V
