The mining days are gone

Alentejo

Lousal mines (pyrite) in Alentejo closed in 1988, still in full production.
Efforts are being made to turn the site into an industrial museum.

Nice picture , good detail and color.
A museum in an old pyrite mine? Pyrite , being an iron ore is useless to extract iron, but sulphur.Eventualy, in the ore processing it is possible to get a little bit of gold. As a mine, no way to be of any interest, this is my opinion, indeed.

A real workhorse that earned a place in the sun after years underground. Great shot.
