The series of floats started after dark, in front to the Royal Paveillion, then after slowly parading down the avenue, parked for a long time in a circle (can't say precisely how long, but certainly sufficient to inspect closely). There was usually one young man or woman on board each one, playing the part of a warrior or princess or something handsome/beautiful.
