Fungus by the side of the path from Penetang to Midland. It had a colour, deep red, which I haven't seen in a fungus of that size before. Mind you, I'm not frequently in Ontario forests, but I didn't see an exponent in a book I consulted afterwards, either. There were about ten examples of them in an outcrop we saw. Again, my timing was all wrong. By the time I got back the next day to photograph them, it had rained and they were a lot more mushy.
