With the dam that backs up this lake scheduled to be rebuilt late this summer, this lake will be drained and enlarged over the next few years. The new shoreline will be cleared of trees, the trailhead parking lot (where this image was taken) will be expanded, and (sadly) allow much larger crowds along the new shoreline. I fear the pristine quiet and beauty there will be forever lost.
As in many arid places in the West, this lake was created by the building of a dam to store irrigation and drinking water. Though not a natural lake, it is often visually stunning with Mount Timpanogos and the aspen and pine trees reflected in its clear cold waters.
