My wife asks me often why I don't take photos of the colts. Well, the protective mothers keep them at a greater distance from me.
But this little filly, at just a few days old, was close enough for me to catch this image. She is the youngest member of the herd. I had photographed her mother just the weekend before this was taken, and she looked very uncomfortable and heavy, she likely gave birth the day after.
The young horse looks very healthy and curious. She is the product of a big red stallion and pinto mother in this photo. She also has a one year old sister that has pinto coloring.
