Vast expanses of dry desert flanked my abruptly rising mountains on every side, too far away and dry for modern human civilization. Thankfully, I only see an occasional cloud of dust rising from the few dusty roads that run through the range, and on three day holiday weekends an obnoxious four wheeler.
