Duke and his band

Duke is one of the biggest stallions in the desert herd. In this frame, he stands on a high hill between me and his mares. The horses have moved to the highest elevations to find what little dried grass that remains. The elevation and color of the sunset with the horses standing still was perfect for this hand-held shot.

Pentax K20D ,Sigma 50-500mm
Images were shot using a long lens. The mustangs were not disrupted from their normal activities. full exif

A horse lover, love your images. I used to ride as a teenager and also owned a couple of
horses at one time. I have visited your galleries before, exceptional quality of perception that I find here. I really do like these images. I wasn't sure I am
operating my site just exactlly the way I am supposed to be so trying to learn Pbase a
little better, maybe some of this should be on the mail system. Also, I want to tell you...Horses are easy for me to draw or paint, if you want to see some of mine there are
a few on my site.
