Hammerhead Worm - Tom

I have no idea what this is (worm or snail?), but thought it looked very abstract.

Tom, I ran across your photo this morning 08/15/09 in Jacksonville, Florida. Because as I had started cleaning up and washing the pool deck. I had seen this strange thing so as we do, I put it in a cup and look on the enter net and bingo. Thanks you Reggie

great picture !!
it is a terresrial flatworm, probably from the genus Bipalium
most of them are found in the tropics (SE Asia, S America), one species has been introduced to green houses and gardens in warm regions of Europe and USA ..
cheers

Thanks for the suggestions. I played with different crops and just couldn't come up with anything really "abstract" without losing a lot of the great wood form. Actually the negative of the image looks really cool (and abstract), but I was trying to avoid PP... but after seeing some of the other entries here, this image may go negative... A layer of bark was pealed off a palm tree to reveal the worm stuck to this small piece of bark (about 1"x2").

That’s scary, great picture.

You've got excellent forms, textures and colors in this one. I think it is a great image as it is, but, as Alain said, to make it fit the theme better you could make it more abstract by prounoncing form and texture better by cropping it differently.
Cheers!

Hi Tom
Interesting image you got there. I think however that you can do much more with it (regarding the theme). I would have focused on the marvellous would structure and take only part of the worm in the framing.

good capture.
THe worm and wood lines work well, as do the colors.
