Hi! Thanks for your comments! Philip, I'm not sure if "bicycle torches" is the right word, but my dictionary suggested it :-). It is two small diode lamps I have on my bicycle so I can be seen in the dark... I didn't try to focus at all for this image. First I tried to use manual focus, and have my girlfriend move the lights at approximately 3 meters distance, but the result wasn't very good. The light trails were to thin and sharp. Unfortunately my girlfriend doesn't quite share my enthusiasm for strange shots in the dark and left the room after only 30 or so shots and I had to move the lights myself :-). On this image I moved the lights from only a few centimeters distance from the lens to about one meter away (I still had the camera focused at approximately 3 meters distance). I don't know why the image seems sharp, I haven't done any pp.
Greetings,
Markus
Hi Marcus,
Brilliant. Fit the theme perfectly. Love the effect, the contrast of colours and the glow.

Hi Markus. I am enthralled with this shot. Two questions for you: how do you focus for something like this and what are bicycle torches? (I suspect you will be hosting the next competition. However, I have been wrong in each of my predections.)

Markus, I have to agree with Bob about your effort here. There's no mistaking the strong adherence to the theme. The composition and lighting are also spot on to create a simple but appealing result. Very clever and reminiscent of the simplicity of Neil Paskin's Celebration (champagne bottle) in C13 where it was simpler than the image suggested but the result was great. Cheers, John
