Strong composition with lots of interest and beauty.

bracket,

Like the composition and perspective. The "wall" would be less distracting if it would have been unfocused or blurred. I like it nonetheless.

I really like this one! Not sure about the backdrop... but the knife and Peach will get a few of my points! - Tom

Peachy-Keen! Nicely done, and right on topic.

Ouch!!!!I can feel the pain.
great idea, well done & on target!
Could the background accept a tiny bit of blur without losing the sharpness?

A well crafted still life that certainly has an edge.

Well lit and setup but I wish the background was not the back of a sheet of fibreboard.

Opps, that was me, Smatty ;)

Wow, bracket! Nicely set up and captured. I wish I would have thought of that... would have saved my "Stunt Bears" a lot of trouble ;-)

This image is so good in so many ways . I really like the graphic appeal of the lines and curves as well as the textures and the image itself is great ( peach on the edge, knife on the edge, photography on the edge.)

Neat idea. Good picture! That's why I like this forum. A lot of intersting takes on a topic. I like this background better than the checker board but still wonder if another choice would really make it pop? The wood base with the knot and gloss... nice!

I liked the original image - but I think this one with the complimentary textures is even better. JAck G.

Hi Bracket,
Yes, I think it is an improvement, but it is a much more dramatic change than I had in mind when I made my first comment. I was thinking more of blurring the chequered background a bit. Anyway, it's still a good entry.

Firstly, thanks for all your comments/suggestions so far. I thought them very helpful. I have now uploaded a different version with a less crowded background. I also applied more (over)sharpening to emphasize edges more. Please tell me if you think it's an improvement or not. After all one of the main benefits of participating in the competition for me is to improve my photography. Thanks in advance

Excellent -- many interpretations of the theme, on the edge of the knife, the knife on edge etc.

Another Arghhhh! Very nicely executed. I agree with the previous comments about distraction. It may become more powerful if the contact part between the knife and the peach is accentuated. Just a suggestion.
Cheers

Good idea, bracket, and well executed. I agree with alain though that the chequered background is a little distracting. Not very much however, and it doesn't take the edge out of your entry. Well done!

Ha, another knife ;-) The composition with apple and dark wood spot (don't know the exact english word for it...) works fine. The background however I find a little distracting IMHO.
