Fascinating photo. Why I don't know, but it reminds me of something that I'd see in the Addams family....or Little Shop of Horrors. I think I may feel uneasy about sleeping in a room with it. Nice job.

Hi Dennis,
You can post-process to your heart's content, so what you have done is fine. It's all in the rules, which are linked here and are just another gallery in the main Challenges gallery. I'd recommend you have a read to bring you up to speed.
With PSE, you lose the EXIF data if you Save For Web, but retain EXIF data if you use Save As. Some other programs strip EXIF data too. If your image file contains EXIF data, PBase automatically displays it in the EXIF data table and the date field for your pic. You may have to choose the EXIF data display, but if that choice is there, there is EXIF data to display.
I said it before and I'll say it again, I love your pic. I can't imagine that flash would have produced anything better. Well done. I'll be amazed if Screwy does not end up being in the top 5.
Cheers, John

Hi John. I had my Minolta Dimage 7Hi for less than a year, and Photoshop Elements for about half that time. Before that I'd never heard of EXIF. If I can figure out how to upload it, I'll do so in future. I took my camera to the gym on Thursday thinking I might get a reflection picture off the lap pool. I'd never noticed the mirror and these plants at the entrance to the men's change room before. Opening my eyes to the wonders around me has been one of the benefits of joining MTF. I took about half a dozen quick shots, including a couple with flash. But I liked the composition of this unflashed version the most. It was taken at ISO 100 for 1/15 second. Shouldn't have been in focus at all. I was lucky. The surreal image of this weird plant crawling around itself suggested surreal colouring. I had learned about adjustment layers last week, and tried out something called gradient. The hardest part was selecting the background for gradient layering without compromising the plant's colour. BTW, if post-processing isn't allowed for the challenge, I'll happily move the picture. I'm here to learn, not to break rules. -- Dennis

I don't know about plants, so I had to do some research. This is a spiral lucky bamboo (a member of the lily family). Apparently it has good Feng Shue; the type of luck you get is related to the number of stalks you plant. Personally, I think Feng Shue is screwy. LOL

Hi Dennis,
I love this pic. How did you do it, lighting, etc?
BTW, I hope you know that pics in this gallery need to be taken by you with a Minolta camera during the entry period. You have included the name Dennis in the title, which indicates that you took them all. However, you have not included any EXIF data. You need to either post versions that have EXIF data (preferred) or include the date taken and Camera make/model with each pic (honesty system if EXIF data does not exist).
Cheers, John

At first I thought it was a generated image (at least the bamboo part). Yeah, mirrors can fool you...
Like the color contrast, good work !

Nice humour in the title - and I like the use of light and colour, with the "warm" background contrast to the subtle green of the...er... is it bamboo? :)
