Here are some photos of the damage from Hurricane Ike here at our property in Polk County, Texas. Ike was not as powerful of a storm as Rita was in 2005, but because it was so large and remained around for such a long time, it did probably as much if not more damage than Rita did 3 years ago. Ike made landfall and came into our area on September 13, 2008 which was also our 5th wedding anniversary. We were stuck at home without any electricity after it came through plus we weren't able to get out and go anywhere because of the trees that had fallen across the roads. My wife and I got out on a tractor with a front end loader and a chainsaw and we cut away the trees and pushed them out of the way so that we could get out and go to town. We did this 3 years ago when Hurricane Rita came through.
