North Carolina Bobcat in our back yard

It was about 7:30 pm on Saturday, June 14, 2003 when Norma called me to the window. Lo and behold! There was a bobcat eyeing our bird feeder. I got my camera and shot off a few pictures. No, these aren't zoo pictures, They were taken of our back yard through our window.

This web site is very informative for my husband and I. Our drain spout and duct from the drain spout into the yard and onto a drain made of concreat were attacked by some animal and we can only think it was a bob cat after another animal. The black plastic drain was torn right out of the ground and ripped into pieces. Our yard is a mess. The foot prints and site of the hole were not those of a dog doing this damage. We live in the city of High Point NC

I found your page after looking for evidence that I was not nuts! While driving thru my hendersonville towns back road I swear I seen a bob cat and babys! I was hoping to find evidence of this. Please let me know where you are in hendersonville maybe its the same one!

Hello...

What part of North Carolina are you located?

Ilive in the Southwestern part (Franklin) and we have one in our community, just inside the city limits, in a fairly populous community, neara shopping center and interstae highway. It's been here about two weeks and tonight (June 29) had a loud commotion outside our home. Never found any indications of damage, but was loud and strange sounding.

hi , beautiful/ nice experience...saw a coyote in daytime near trees been cut down...near our home in NC recently and tonight saw what I believe to be a bobcat leap about two feet off the ground and into the woods ..he probably had just crossed the road to the other side and headed into the woods..we live about 10 mins. outside of Troy NC. Not sure where your location is in N.C.

i live in fayetteville,nc and sad to say i have found two of these awesome animals hit on the road by my house almost in the exact spot. one was two years ago and the other was today. i found your sight looking for pictures. i feel bad that such a cool cat here in my neck of the woods is gone. treasure yours everyday. pat

I live in Hendersonville, NC and just spotted one in my yard late yesterday afternoon. Does anyone know what their range is and if they stay in one general area or roam great distances. Would love to see it again.

We just saw one in our garden after dinner. Your pictures helped identify it. There is a real sense of awe when one is approached by this cat, it's almost unbelievable.

Gorgeous cat! You are so fortunate to have gotten more than a glimpse of a feline ghost. We have one on our ranch that I'd love to get some pictures of. He's heavily spotted, almost like an ocelot. He makes his morning rounds and sprays the post of the mailbox every morning. Difficult light conditions, but I'm going to try!

did anyone notice that the right ear is partially torn off? great pics! I saw one cross the road once, early in the morning,didn't get a good look though, he was in silloette.

That was a gorgeous moggy! And I thought we had interesting wildlife in our garden here in Sydney. This beautiful feline would make short work of our brushtail possums.
