Hello Matt, I share an interest in Photography as well as your name with you. You have excellent work posted here which I have enjoyed viewing. If you are interested in seeing my photos search your name at Flickr and see user name 1riverat
All your photos are great, especialy portraits of people.
I like the most of "The Green Eyes of Nepal Laxmi"
Thanks and appreciate your sharing.
You are an amazing artist with eyeson beaty. You are definitely gifted in high talent of arts and your photos sends lots of culture feedbacks. I am a traveler myself and loves landscafe photography. I did it a lot of this back in college with friends before the digital camera. It was a lot of fun and lots of money for me during that time also when I was attending college of Engineering from Saint Louis University, Philippines.I have to stop. Now, I still take photos here and there but not like yours! You are owesome and lucky to see the places you have been. Thank you for sharing your photos in public and I wish you a very goodluck in your next trip. I will tell my friends about your photo entries and I bet they will feel the same like me. You definitely have lots of courage to take some of your photos in some forbidden places. God bless. Takecare.
Your pictures inspire me!! esp the portraits of people.
Thanks, you bring the soul of travelling and the people to life.
Hope I can do that one day...
Any tips of ever doing that?
max woodliff's mom sent your photos to me so i could see the afghanistan trip ... i'm curious: do you sell any of your images? there are three from that gallery that i would love to purchase if you do ... thank you, ellen gabardi (madison,ms)
I'm Cathy Stroud, Clayton Dinkins' aunt. Continued FABULOUS work!!! Where are you in your education, and what are your plans? I love photography, and am about to upgrade to a slr digital. I was considering a Canon eos40d or a Nikon. What do you recommend?
Hi Matt - thanks for your comment on my Arctic gallery.

I was checking out the CCH website and felt a need to donate to the cause. What an astonishing life these people live and the CCH seems like an oasis in the middle of the chaos.
Your favorite Aunt
You are now in my fovourite artists, it's nice to have discovered your precious photo-works. Ciao, Paolo
For some reason, your pictures really cheered me up.
I'm simply loss for words. Kudos!
Excellent, love it!
Matt - thanks for your comment. I'm amazed that you got to travel all these different places! It must be wonderful to experience all the cultural diversity this planet has to offer. I hope one day I can do the same.
Xi wang kan dao ni geng duo de zhao pian. xie xie.
Everyone is amazed at photos which ur grandmother so proudly displays
thanks for all the comments! in response to the guest two below, i always ask before taking a portrait or kindo of closer more invasive photo, but as for distance shots normally not. It's a tough call, and you really have to judge the people and culture around you. for example, people in Mongolia love cameras and really like it and see it more as an honor when you take their picture, where as people in Bolivia hate it and see cameras more as evil time freezers. Thanks again for the comment, I really appreciate it!
Wow I am bowled over - all the countries and such beautiful photos.
wow. I love all the people you took. did you have to ask them first? i love person/people in pictures, adds character and life.you got a gift, matt! ( is that stating the obvious?)
Thanks for your comment on my KKH travel gallery, Khush Aamdeed, welcome to Pakistan!
You're quite a traveler, my role model :P I'd also love to know the secret of financing all these trip (except if you inherited millions :P).
Hi Matt, lots of great images here. Thanks for your comment on my crucifixion gallery - very few people can think of anything to say about it ;-)

Thanks for sharing your photos, they are great.
Please let me know, how do you afford to travel so much, both in terms of money and time ?
Being honest, I have not checked, so far, your other galleries except of Nepal. Being a Nepalese, I just plunged into your snaps of my "Maatri-Bhumi" Nepal.
Awesome shots...!!! The way you capture those moments of either the Sadhu on Pashupati or those naive kids on Siruwari Balami Gau, they are just superb.
You make me feeling so nostalgic of my home away from home....!!!

Good website, you have here.
I put my step in your guestbook.
Welcome to my website as well
My friend from Brown, Kelly W., told me about all your adventures and I just wanted to say that I think it's amazing that you've had the opporunity to visit so many countries and meet so many people. Your photos are beautiful and I look forward to seeing the new ones after your trip this December. Have fun!
YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL PHOTO AND I ENJOYED IT KEEP GOING...
Me llamo Rebeca y tengo 24 años.
Matt - like your thinking and also your photography. This moment is all that matters. What has gone is in the past and the future - well, we have no idea of what it will bring, so why worry about it. Now is the only time, be content! Lucky to be able to visit all those amazing places, look forward to returning to see what else you have added of the now!
Thanks a lot for your coments.
Saludos desde Madrid
The pictures taken in Mongolia are exquisite, by far, one of your best works. By the way, I like the...beard. You look GREAT. Glad you are home. Love, Grandma

Hey Matt, I am a Nepali living in Canada.
I have lived here for 2 years now and I am attending the University of Calgary in Calgary, AB, Canada. Just wanted to say thank you so much for all those pictures, because even in my 16 years in Nepal, I did not have the opportunity to travel freely. And now that I am here in Canada, going back seems like a long shot because of school. But thank you so much for all those wonderful pictures and thank you so much for being with those poor families. You made them smile, and that is the greatest of all tasks. Thank you so much for doing all those things that I wanted to do in my own country, but unfortunately could not. God bless you my friend.
You have an exciting life ahead of you. Use your talent for GOOD.
Brown will be lucky to have you!!! Your pictures are amazing and I can't wait to see more on your China trip. We are all so happy and proud of you!!!

Ma timilai maya garchhu! Just testing your Nepali, hope you are not swept by it. I live in India though originaly belong to Nepal. I always wanted to feel/see the life in Nepal and your photographs have trully given me opportunity to experience and imagine life in Nepal. Appreciate your good work. I hope to return to Nepal after my studies and work as a social worker and may take up journalism eventually.
I love Nepal. Thanks for those amazing, speaking pictures.
Matt, I have seen all your pics (posted on the site!!) and they are amazing. There is a senstivity to the photographs and I relate to it. Keep up the good work.
It is wonderful you are travelling the world and experiencing so much of life at the age you are now. I can imagine there would be many fun-filled adventures to tell. You seem to have a great organization you're working through too.
I'm looking forward to a trip to Sao Paulo Brazil to create a charitable project working with photographers. I want to collect photographs for a book entitled "Through the Eyes of an Angel". This book would be photos of children without parents captured in expressions of joy and celebration. If you have knowledge of people or organizations that would further this please let me know.
Thank you Matt!

Cuidate. Te quiere mucho tu amigo y consejero, Senor Gomez.
Good job keep it up.

Hi Matt! I'm going on the Dragons Himalaya semester in two weeks! My name is Elizabeth and I'm hoping to focus on photography while I'm there, as it appears you have done! Your photographs are amazingly sharp and beautifully composed! I had a question about your camera, as to how long you've been using it and if you have experience with other kinds of digital cameras (in specific, the Nikon cameras). I have a Nikon D70 and right now the lense is DX SWM ED IF Aspherical. My dad has a Canon EOS10D, and it's considerably heavier than the Nikon. I am wondering if you know of any significant differences in the quality of image between the two. Could you give me any recommendations towards which one I should take? Thank you very much for your time and for your wonderful pictures!
Hey Matt, I've viewed your galleries a few times now. You have some wonderful captures. Drop me a line as soon as you set up your China gallery. I'm sure it will be as impressive as the others. Regards, Ira
This is what you missed.
some good reading there.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my galleries, and for leaving the comment on my Macau gallery! I really must say that I was pleasantly surprised by Macau, since I had only heard about the gambling and vices to be found there!
I'm really impressed by the way you portray people! I agree with many of the previous posters, that it is remarkable how you are able to empathise, and hence portray with feeling, people from all of these different cultures around the world!
I'm heading to Cambodia in a few weeks, and hope to replicate some of the magic that you have - although I am sure that it will be a long time before I am able to come anywhere close to your level of ability!
Keep updating the gallery! I for one will be very keen to see where you head to next!
I love visiting your gallery to share with you all the wonderful people and places and beautiful pictures that open the world to me through you. I'm so proud of you. Love Grandma
A great and wonderful collection of photographs from around teh world. Maybe we will bump into each other in China, as I will also be travelling there in Sept-Oct - although it is a big country
Thanks for sharing your photos, they are great. I have a few questions/comments, sorry to be longwinded:
How do you afford to travel so much, both in terms of money and time (aren't you in school?)
Also, I found the references to 'alternate cultures' and 'corners of the globe' mildly offensive. These phrases are egocentric and miss the most essential thing one can learn from travel: while language, material culture, and other customs change around the globe and throughout history, people are basically the same everywhere.
Sorry to sound off. Honestly, great pics.
I am speechless. At 17, you demonstrate more curiosity and empathy for alternate cultures than 99% of the world's populace ever will! I anxiously await your Galapagos photos!
Thanks for dropping by and looking at my Mali gallery. I appreciate your comment. I can tell I am going to have to take some time and go through your very interesting site.
And you are right, certainly there have always been beautiful and interesting people in the corners of the globe I have travelled.
So how does a old man over 50 (going on 25) get involved with international service. Amazing diary you have here.
Your galleries are excellent, full of compassion and understanding for people and their surroundings. I mentioned it in your Nepal 2003 Gallery and repeat it again: "You are a talented photographer". I share you travel obsession as a way of positive life affirmation. There is so much we can learn by immersing ourself among people from different cultures and appreciating our common humanity. Thanks for your pics again and keep up the good work around the world.
You have a wonderful collection of pictures. I like the way you document the life of the people you portrait by including parts of their culture and way of life in the pictures. Thanks for dropping a line in my guestbook by the way.
I found your gallery while browsing trough pbase and i just like it.
Seems that you have many other talents, besides of the really nice people portraits on your gallery, and i really like your statement about travelling in your bio. I feel just the same
Best regards from Zurich

Thank you for your kind encouraging words on my site earlier. I see that you get about the world quite a bit. It's always nice to see faces from all over the world from different cultures and backgrounds and you have a lot of that in your galleries.
May the wind in your sails take you to even more places.
Glad you liked my pictures of Nepal. I enjoyed not only your pictures of Nepal but pictures from all parts of the world. Your love of the people is evident.

Thanks for your comments. Fantastic photos you have...thanks for sharing!
thank you for your comments on my photo's, I'm glad you enjoyed them.
I really enjoyed your Nepal gallery, I've spend a month there in 1994, trekking up to Everest base camp (or Kalar Patar anyway), and I'm hoping to get back there next year (ten years after) to get to Mustang. My visits are limited to my yearly leave though, it looks as if you've spend a bit more time and got around more.
As far as Vietnam and Cambodia goes, I can only recommend you going there. Particulary Vietnam is one of my favorite places that I've been to. Beautifull country, beatifull people and great food.
l was surfing about something before reaching here,l love and l will officially visit again.
Hi l'm Alex Lim from Malaysia..

we are sitting in the Bangkok airport admiring your pictures of Thauiland. They have blown us away and inspired us to travel. But wait! Where are all the pictures of your group from the Thailand trip? Eh? Eh? That is why we have come to Thailand--to see the American people here. And now we are gonna go beat you with a really big stick and then hold you down and force mileek down your throat--because we are your ekdam raamro satis. Caraaazy.

Thank you Matt for your nice comments on my Jordan gallery web site.
All galleries are updated regularly for your enjoyment.
I must say you have some fantastic shots on-line. Well Done!
thanks for commenting on my Nepal 2002 gallery. I have updated some pics, so feel free to browse through again (Kangchenjunga Trek still needs some more pics to be added.)
I have really enjoyed your galleries. Absolutely taken away by your pictures from Thailand. Awesome stuff, your people's pics show character and class. You will really have easy time to take pics like that in Nepal, people are very friendly and open, scenery is stunning. Just take a little longer zoom (something like 70-200) as not to encroach on people's privacy and you'll get those prize-winning pics when they don't pose and just behave naturally. Kids are altogether another challenge. They just love to be in front of camera...
Good luck in Nepal...
I'm proud of your pictures!!!
I like the felling of your images....come to my site---->Thailand
you have very beautiful pictures.
