Well I found the time and the money and finally picked up one.
It was in great shape and or the gun was mint. Probably had been kept in storage over the years. The wood was a little rough though.
Here is the progress photos and the work that was done. The same process as my m14 birch stock refinishing.
I soaked the stock and grip in varsol for a day to get out the cosmoline. Then used varsol soaked steel wool to clean further now that the cosmo had been loosened.
Next I changed to a finer grit and sanded again, then again with an even finer grit to get a good grain.
I then used miniwax old english walnut and rubbed it into the stock and let dry. Then I used minwax red mohagany and rubbed it in as well mixing the two colours.
(no reason just bored) After drying I applied 2 coats of Tru oil and let dry.
Then to keep the military low sheen look for the stock I used extra fine steel wool to remove some of the extra sheen and thats it.
I also warm blued the metal parts on the stock to give it that nice black look and touched up most of the dings on the gun as well. Came out pretty good I guess.
