In a 4-6 year program, students learn the art of all the traditional arts and crafts. This student is weaving. The hand-woven facrics in Bhutan use cotton, wool or silk and the intricate patterns take a lot of skills to accurately reproduce. Each region of Bhutan has its own patterns. Materials are mostly striped, horizontal for women and vertical for men. These fabrics are used to sew the traditional clothes: the Gho for men and the Kira for women.
