Picos

These photos are of our six day trek from Tabay to Pico Espejo (4765m) at the top of the teleferico by way of Pico Humboldt (4942m) and Pico Bolivar (5007m). None of these photos can do justice to the stunning beauty of the mountains.

This trek was, by far, the toughest thing that we have every done. The Andes are very steep mountains and the trek was very long. We made it to the glacier on the top of Humboldt, about 200m from the top. Unfortunately, we were too slow climbing so, by the time we arrived, the glacier was too soft and there was avalanche danger. Peter made it to within 20 meters of the peak of Pico Bolivar but, there too, the snow was too soft to risk the last few feet.
