World Trade Center, New York City (1989)

I took these photographs on a trip to New York City in September 1989. I had always admired the beauty of the twin towers so the World Trade Center was the first stop on my tour of the city.

Let us never forgot the thousands of innocent people who were murdered or injured here twelve years later, on that horrific day in September 2001.

All pictures inside the WTC are taken from the observation deck of WTC2, also known as the south tower. This was the second tower to be hit on September 11th and the first to collapse. Where possible, I have tried to include corresponding 9/11 related information with each image.

i didn't get to see the twin towers. and on that horrible September day i said my first cuss word. (i didn't care even though i was in preschool) those people need to learn thier frickin' lesson

What happened there is really terrible but the responsibility doesn't belong to all muslims.Islam is not what is shown at these days.There are loads of muslims condemning those attacks.

In answer to Pateriot's message on December 20th, no matter what your opinion, any human being should find the 'reaction' of those murderers to be completely unacceptable. What happened on September 11th was totally without justification. To have any empathy or understanding with those terrorists is deeply questionable, those murderers took the lives of 3000 people with joy in their hearts. Nothing justifies that.

I always wanted to visit those towers but as I can see poeple are one minded and see the situation from only their opinion I am not with those terrorists but I can say "every action has a reaction"

Beautiful photos of twin towers before the sudden nightmare approched it. I have deep compasion to all those who died on the day of 9/11, my heart also goes out to the family members who lost a loved one. Your'e photographs showed what evil destructive people destroyed on that day of September. How evil and uncaring people can be to decide to go out someday and bring death towards other people in the world is beyond me as they show how much hatred, heartlessness and evilness is inside them. In contrast it showed how brave and loyal normal people can be as firefighters sacrificed their own lives for others to survive. God rest the sole of those lost that horrific day.

These pics are great. I was very saddened by the disaster even though I live across the Atlantic. I was shocked to come home one september day from school and see my two favourite towers, which I one day hoped to visit, in flames with people waving for help from the top floors and jumping free of the flames to their deaths to end their suffering. That day showed us how evil some people in this world can be but the heroic firefighters that day showed how we can stand as people against such evil. What every hero did that day was in my mind incredible. My heart goes out to those who lost someone that day. I hope that the "Twin Towers 2" proposal, the rebuilding of the twin towers, goes ahead. I think that not only will it spit back in the faces of those murdurers but also restore the heart of New York and its skyline!

Thanks very much for this, i am very saddened by the disaster, my heart goes out to everyone who lost someone in this tragedy. I would have loved to go there and see these marvelous views, however just the pictures make me cringe, i dont like heights!!!
