WTC view towards midtown Manhattan

The first hijacked plane (famously caught on the fireman's videotape) flew south along the length of Manhattan and hit the north facing side of WTC1 (the east facing side of WTC1 is in this picture). The exit wound of the plane was through the east side of the building, as shown in this photograph.

From the vantage point of these pictures, one who worked high in those towers must have paused at the wonderful view their offices provided. What a wonderful feeling it must have been to work in one of the world's most powerful centers overlooking Manhattan. Then, September 11, 2001 happened and that once cherished perspective changed....and drastically so!
