Nature's Kaleidoscopes: The Saw Palmetto

Saw palmetto are one of the most prevalent plant species in Florida. They predominate the understory of pine flatlands or virtually anywhere the canopy to allow enough light for them the thrive. They are so common that is easy to forget how uncommonly beautiful they can be. On my recent trip to Florida I noticed they almost function as living prisms, refracting the bright sunshine into a kaleidoscope of colors and patterns and so I tried to capture the phenomenon wherever it appeared. This gallery collects those shots.
