Lines grab me, pull me, cajole me, play and dance with me.
"See us here!" they call, "Come and take OUR picture!"
Galen said to play with repetition, and I liked that, too
(in fact there's already a gallery here for that),
but I think I figured out about lines on my own.

I remember playing with lines when I was 8 years old.
As a country kid, I didn't have sidewalks,
but the floor in the hallway of our elementary school
was made of long, narrow boards.
I figured out that I could change the way I walked
if I used those lines to guide my feet.
I don't know what so fascinated me about that
(still does; I still dream I'm in that hallway);
I know only that this memory is foremost
when I plumb the depths in regard to lines.

Lines just do the darnedest things, especially in parallel.
But get them going crossways to one another,
and WOW, does that get your eyes moving!
So now, I look for that.
Or I see it when it comes along, anyway.

This has been my most exciting-to-build gallery yet.
I can feel it scintillating, bubbling, dancing--alive!
