In many places along the trail, we saw bear scat; they'd been eating mostly chokecherries. There were lots of plums ripe, too, and a few other kinds of berries. With all this fruit, the bears' deposits were, um, very loose. We half-expected to come upon a bear or two on the trail, but I guess they like the space better without people in it.
