I should have posed my friend next to one of these; her face would have fit inside the frame
where the second flower didn't. These breathtakers used to grow under the south edge of the hypostyle that
joins the Student Union Building and the Museum. Our gratitude to the kind groundskeeper
who put them there!! Sad to say, a year later, their space was concreted over. However, after another
year or two, possibly the very same plant reappeared in another planter near the front of the same building.
--But only for two, maybe three weeks was it allowed to bloom! When asked where it had gone, the very sad
groundskeeper who had had to remove it pointed to an empty patch of soil at the Northeast corner
of the Museum. So, we'll watch there next spring.
