A friend's daft project gifted me with a set pf "secular wish flags." I knew right away what they would become, and once made, they soon settled into their chosen windy corner. As I wrote to her: "So I had time while a batch of new yeast-free, wheat-free, egg-free, sugar-free bread was baking on Thursday night [next time, I'll add caraway, nuts and raisins], and made my gift flags into Gratitude flags, using each of the white panels for a visible word of gratitude (7 languages are represented), and each of the others for an area of life (such as health, friends, abundance, communication...can't remember them all), written onto the garden patches in such a way that I know they're there, and the Universe, but anybody else would have to care enough to study each one to see it. I tried two different hanging locations, and considered others, before settling on the patio side of my garage; the background suits them, they get blown about in the wind-tunnel there, and they don't mess with my view in the yard." I didn't tell her that in blowing, the wind winds them tightly around their string, because she secured them to it rather than letting them spin freely. Every so often I take a few moments to unfurl them.
