The Bruneau Dunes south of Mountain Home, Idaho, are created and maintained by winds from opposing directions. The park is well worth a visit even JUST for the compact, yet sophisticated astronomical observatory there, but people interested in natural history, fishing, nonmotorized dune play and, yes, photography will find their delights well supplied. You can see the same dune in many of these images; it is because it really IS a main focal point of the area as a whole. However, I find my joy in discovering images at closer range. I am also enjoying returning at different seasons and times of day. Oh, and yes, um...pulling weeds. They have a horrible infestation of puncturevine (goat-heads) that's SO easy to pull up because they irrigate in the campground. I know, I'm weird.
