Bunraku is the first of three Japanese traditional performing arts that we attended.
Dating back to the 17th century, Bunraku is a collaboration between puppet masters,
a chanter telling the tale, and a shamisen player providing the musical passion.
This is serious theater and has nothing in common with children's puppets in the west.
