The Svalbard Reindeer live in family groups of 2 to 6 animals. Noted for their
short legs, these reindeer have few natural predators; they can outrun a polar
bear if given an initial start as polar bears can not maintain high speed.
These reindeer graze 24 hours a day in the arctic summer building up a 4 inch
layer of fat in preparation for the long cold and dark arctic winter.
