On March 28th, 2008 coming back from our trips around Virginia we stopped at the forest fire in Augusta County, Virginia near the small town of Vesuvius. This fire burned over 4000 acres of forest land, mainly the underbrush in the forest. We got as close to the fire as possible, even going down a road that led us to watching quickly as a firefighter backlit near the road. Then going down to a local church in Vesuvius we watched as that backlit fire raged into the sky and then quickly burnt out to leave itself smoldering in the distance. It was truly a sight to see. Today Monday March 31st, 2008 it is now totally contained. Thank God no houses or structures or people were damaged or injured during this huge fire!!
