Awesome work Bob!! Don't you think it would be a good idea for your home page
to show all of your galleries, instead of just the Scenic Expressions?
The only other way to see all your work is to go to your recent page first. ~BV~

Hello Bob, its' been 8 years since I emailed you and enjoyed your pics of the snowstorm on the NYS Thruway. I downloaded your pics for my backround but that was way too many computers ago. Im still living in Albany with the occasional trip to Buffalo if I could get those again I'd be very gratefull we get snowstorms here in Albany but your pictures said Buffalo all over them.

Thank You

I 1st saw the jackson sanitorium (Mcfadden castle) OK Before the interstate! in 1978 on my way to college. My Mom always was drawn to such places (no fear of ghosts here!). The floors were buckled but plates awaited hungry residents in carts neatly stacked I have been in there many times and am drawn by it still. It means or did no harm but so many others have. I think about it alot and am grateful for your pics as I don't live in the area anymore.

beautiful photography Bob, I'm adding you so I can check back again :)
Your name seemed so familiar when I saw it, I'm wondering if I have seen you on another photography site? maybe PT?

Dear Bob,
I've just admired your beautiful pictures in a dpreview thread of Febr. 27th.
In the text you wrote a.o.: "For stuff like this...", "All with the Nikon 70-300G..." and "It definately has it's place in my bag..."
The reason I send you this e-mail is as follows:
The other day I bought a Nikon D70 with the kit-lens. I would like to add a tele-zoom and considered to buy the Nikon 70-300 F4/5.6 G. Price (in my country, Holland) about $ 100,-.
So affordable. But in a lens performance survey it was knocked down, so I doubt to buy. Looking at your nice pictures however I'm impressed about quality so I'm wondering whether there is no misunderstanding (because there are so many lenses of Nikon) and did you really made the pictures with this cheap (Nikon 70-300 F4/5.6 G) lens?
Would be great to have your reply.
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Dick.

Hi Bob, I enjoyed your funny neon sign "No drugs or nuclear weapons allowed" on the DPreview signs thread. I grew up next door to Hamburg NY, in East Aurora. Great to see a fellow Western New Yorker also using a D70 and posting. Your images on PBase are great too. Cheers, Sean

Infrared advise needed
I have a new Canon A70 camera. The filter I am using is a Tiffin #87 filter. It is black, and sees only IR light.
The results I am getting are very Infrared, indeed, but the focus is crap. How is it your pics are so sharp? I know the G1 does great IR...but still.....
Could it be the filter I am using is too much for the camera? I am going to get a r72 filter also.
Any ideas on how to focus? What do you do?

Your pictures are all so amazing I couldn't decide which gallery to leave a comment in. I am really inspired by your work! Particularly your wildlife and infrared shots.

Hello Bob and Wendy. I enjoyed visiting your wonderful Gallery immensely. Thank you so very much for sharing them. There is a lovely spot about 60 miles north of Seattle, "The Skagit Valley". At the town of Mount Vernon, with spectacular backdrop of snow-peaked Mt.Baker range, there is a Tulip Festival held every year. As a matter of fact, the tulips are in full bloom right now. I particularly would like very much to see the Photo Gallery of these gorgeous colorful tulip fields done by YOU. Even with my "sure-shot" camera, the pictures came out okay. Imagine if you both were there, what Quality of the Gallery's going to be! I'll try to forward you this web site for your future reference as soon as I got them, - shall be visiting your gallery again and again. THANK YOU ! Muncharee (from So.California)

Fist time looking at your gallery and new member of Pbase. Truely enjoyed your shots , will add to favorites a must.

I happened to visit your gallery by chance. I live in Istanbul, Turkey. I did my graduate work in Cambridge, Mass. and worked for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Akron, Ohio for some time. Your Pictures are just great. I noticed that we have something in common. I also own a Casio QV 2900UX and I am an admirer of Oly-C2100UZ. Unfortunately, I was somewhat carried away with the lower price of the Casio and bought that instead of the Oly. My Casio proved to be a total disappointment for me. I think its image qulity is so poor in general that it renders the unique feature on it rather useless. All in all Casio QV2900 is nowhere to be compared with the Oly-C2100UZ. The sad part is that I have wasted so much time in trying to correct the image quality of the Casio and when I decided to give up and buy an Oly-C2100UZ it was no more available both on the US and the UK market.
If you would be interested I could send you some shots of Istanbul taken with the Casio and my other cameras. It was really nice to know you and I will aprprecate hearing from you. Good luck.

Sincerely,

Mutlu Hey heymutlu@yahoo.co.uk

Thanks alot everybody for the nice comments...I use a Hoya R72 infrared filter on my C2100. I'm not sure how a Red 25 filter would work...
Glen Burke 05-Feb-2002 18:11
I enjoyed very much viewing your photographic work, but am more interested in your infrared artistry

Would you mind telling which filter or filters you use get such great shots?

I to use the C-2100, and am looking forward to experimenting with infrared.

Would a Red 25 filter work for getting the kind of shots you get?

Bob:
I thoroughly enjoyed looking at your gallery of photos taken with your Oly 2100. Did you use a tripod at all, or is the Image Stabilizer that good?

I am considering getting either a 2100 UZ or a 700 UZ. I am unsure whether the extra size of the 2100 will be offset by additional quality from the Image Stabilizer. Any thoughts?

Bob,

You were kind enough to comment positively on some snow shots I posted in the Fuji forum. I followed your link to the shots you took in the State Park - all beautiful, some breathtaking. I especially like the frosted thistle head, and the water shots. You clearly have a talent for photography, these are not merely the lucky shots of a chancer like me! Hope that lousy snow clears soon for you.

All the best,

Kev G.

Thanks for sharing a truly wonderful collection of photos. I have never seen such a great collection of photos all in one place on the internet.

Bob,

Really like most of your photos, its amazing what these inexpensive prosumer digital cams can do isn't it? You're fall photos
are really good, but you're infrared? What's the deal here. How are you doing infrared? Is this a feature only the Olympus
have?

Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing. I miss the fall, I used to enjoy Western Mass and Vermont immensley when
I lived there. Florida is just not the same.

Your gallery has been on my favorites list along with a few others for awhile now. I was saving the galleries of those whose pictures most fascinated me and those whose camera I was considering buying. I am a newbie in the world of digital photography having recently purchased the Oly 2100 Uzi. I live and work in and around NYC. I had acquired my Uzi just as the events of the recent tragedy unfolded. The camera sat in the box for about a week until I finally felt the ability to enjoy something and use it. My first shots were of my day down at ground zero of the Towers. I will post my best ones after I figure out how to use pbase.

Following that day, I have not used the camera again, but intend to now, and love the feel of it and the quality of pictures that it takes. Your gallery has inspired me to get out there and try to duplicate the talents you show. I am even considering getting the Oly E-100RS 1.5 mp with its 15fps shots to use for my sons roller and ice hockey games. I am not sure the Uzi 2100 can handle the sports action, do you know if it can?

My other question to you is do you use post editing in a software program before you posted your shots? If so, what do you recommend.

Please feel free to email me back if and when you have the time.

Thanks again for the great shots.

Ron
