The nation’s only tri-service joint base - Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, (Air Force, Army, Navy,) held its second Power in the Pines Open House and Airshow at McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey, on May 5-6, 2018. Neither the US Air Force Thunderbirds nor the US Navy Blue Angels participated in the airshow this year. There was a CF-18 Hornet performance demonstration by a Royal Canadian Air Force(RCAF) jet pilot and a USAF F-22 Raptor performance demonstration by a USAF jet pilot. There was a performance demonstration by a C-17 Globemaster lll that displayed its unique flight versatility and its ability takeoff and land on small runways.
There were static displays by the Army, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Only military families were invited to the practice day on Friday, May 4 (was not crowded), which was the only day I attended.
