A small group of MOACers has long dreamed of completing the Presidential Traverse in winter. On Saturday March 6th, the stars aligned themselves - sunny skies, the right temperature, the right wind speed, the right trail conditions, and a group of injury-free hikers who were ready to make it happen!
We hit the trail, by headlamp, just after 4:20 AM at the Appalachia trailhead just west of Gorham New Hampshire, and emerged at 6:20 PM at Crawford Notch, having summited mounts Madison, Adams, Jefferson, Clay, Washington, Monroe, Eisenhower, and Pierce. 19.8 miles and 8,500' of elevation gain. An epic day in the high peaks! Pictures are in random order.
Photos are by Kathy B, Tim G, Pat J, Kevin P, and Jonathan R. Additional trip participants (who did not submit photos) were Daymond N and Nico W.
