I recently had the opportunity to photograph a rehearsal of the "Dance Hall Docs". I would describe them as a Jazz/Funk/Fusion band. Hard to pinpoint. What I do know is that they are a really tight group and a great bunch of musicians. In the very early '70s I worked for A&R Recording in Manhattan. At the time it was the largest independent recording studio in NYC. Photographing this band in a local studio brought back a lot of memories. I also learned how to take photos while dancing. It was kind of hard not to move to the beat they were laying down - a lot of Tower of Power. Very cool. My hearing has just about returned.

Since it was remiss of me not to say on my last visit, I really like the way you've been able to use the available light and have captured a lot of very expressive and "in the moment" candids. You've not only managed to grab the right moment but you've framed a lot of the shots well and have the right colour balance, though for the web it would be better to reduce them before posting them; this is a rare instance of the "Large" size actually looking better on screen than the Original size because a lit of the extraneous detail has been "smoothed out". And unusually I'll say that I gave it a vote, since I've already blown my cover in the Forums on that point. 8^>
