As luck would have it, I happened to be shooting this Padres batter for a broken bat dribbler back to the pitcher. There's a chunk of ash unfit for future service.

As a San Diegan and fan of the Padres, I can say that this photo is emblematic of the way this season has gone for them. More than just a bat, the whole team is broken. Great shot. That lens sure does the trick.

It's scary to see such a big piece of bat flying like that. I had a friend who got hit in the mouth by a broken bat piece when I played in Babe Ruth League. Great timing on this shot!

Nice catch, Mark. Sure nice image quality at 1600. Isn't it nice to not worry about going higher? Colors are great too. Did the guy line out to the pitcher?
