Oh dear, I hope there was no blood shed. It does look as if there might be a battle!

It does look like it's on. Great light and detail on these two birds on the feeder. V.

I hope the blackbird gets enough to eat, those pesky starlings just throw the food around!
Colin Storey20-Jan-2013 18:22
Great image of these two, the title is great, who won? v

Great timing on your part and quite well done through the window. I hope there wasn't a battle and that they both got something to eat. V.

I'd put my money on the starling. I'm confident he'd have backup if needed.

Great shot thru the window Martin! Are you fattening these birds up to make blackbird pie? V
Johnny JAG20-Jan-2013 14:32
We had 14 Blackbirds and probably twice as many Starlings in the garden earlier, there was bound to be trouble! Nice catch.

Great shot of these birds in their struggle to get some food in winter !!V

Typical!.....a delightful shot. Starling numbers are said to have declined considerably now, so you had a less common visitor! I've been putting out food for the ground-feeding birds too, on a low feeder my husband made, but next-door's vegetarian dogs have been scoffing it up since the snow came,

Very nice find and capture.V.

the smaller birds do seem to outface blackbirds, don't have starlings to know but imagine they will too.....too right Ken

Our blackbirds are too busy chasing each other off to actually eat anything.... At least the dunnocks, sparrows and finches seem to be cooperating...! Great shot, with the falling snow....

Humans are no better, there is plenty of food to share, if some people weren't so wasteful and greedy.
