I made this image at the "People's Monument." I like the fact that the man in the middle is practicing an ancient form of exercise. For me, placing him between the hammer and cycle and the etched calligraphy is a symbol the some things remain throughout the history of a people.

Carol is right -- he does appear to be giving a blessing. It is a very politicized pulpit. The same man offers a somewhat more aggressive stance in my own image of him athttp://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/86307886

It seems as though the man's Tai Chi pose is gesturing a blessing toward these traditions! Good catch!
