Being in the Eastern Sierras is a very spiritual experience. This appearance of this amazing cloud or "dove of peace," as Carol saw it, heightened that experience. I think we all sort of gasped when we saw it. This image surely explains why we had that response.
Spectacular vision -- beautifully placed. Your centered placement of the cloud in the frame launches this metaphorical dove into flight. My own version of this same scene made cloud larger and shortened the mountain range -- I wanted to bring the bird in from the left instead of centering it. I am fanatical about keeping my subjects out of the center -- this time I was too fanatical. I did not allow as much room BEHIND the bird as you do here. You zoom back, instead of in, and by centering the bird, you give it a big push -- encouraging it to soar. A good lesson for all us. Sometimes centered subjects work well. Thanks, Tim.
