Yes, as Phil states in his comment, the lonely hand does seem to suggest loneliness and asking for help or rescue! Zoos always make me a bit sad.

Truly Timesque -- the isolated hand pressed against the glass is very lonely and sad, a theme that often appears in your imagery.
