The Sony FE 50mm f1.8 is an inexpensive optical gem.

100% center and far edge crops at f8.0 are illustrated here. This was originally mislabeled and is at f8.0 (and not f5.6) although sharpness-wise they are very similar.

The far edge has markedly improved and there is also some discernible improvement in the center compared to f2.0.

About 0.07 EV of correction evens out the vignetting. I couldn’t even see it until I moved that corner detail over.

The lens might be slow to focus but it is optically stellar.
