I'm a native of Missouri. I was born in a very small town near the Arkansas border and grew up with nature's bounty. I took the beauty of the night sky for granted and thought everyone saw the same thing. I live in Florida now and long for the night sky I remember as a child. Thank you for bringing me this close until I can hang my hat again, in a small Missouri town.

Hello, your pictures have me at a loss for words but overwrought with feeling. It has been a long time since that has happened to me. I was wondering if you have any pictures of a gigantic harvest moon on the horizon of a field? on the horizon of whatever will also. My mother is from Lake Village Arkansas and I am very familiar with Missouri. Here in Victoria BC Canada we do not see such splendor and I would like to paint a harvest moon. I happened upon your Web site tonight. It will be the Wolf Moon soon and I miss the full Wolf Moon shining down on deep Minnesota snow so badly I can taste it. Your image of the Wolf Moon brought tears to my eyes. So beautiful. You are an artist beyond compare.

AMAZING PICTURES! Note: I found many articles about Harvest Moon, (in some of them is something of it's counterpart - Vernal Full Moon, including with explanation of seasonal circumstance leading to greatest retardation. But there is missing the note, that in time of setting of Vernal Full Moon apply reversed behaviour of the Harvest Noon. There should be also stated, that Harvest Moon Effect applies for First Quarter around winter solstice and last Quarter around summer solstice. It worths to compare tilt of last quarter moon near winter solstice as it rises (steep angle of moon's orbit in respect to horizon causes that the Moon is laying horizontal) and as it sets (shallow angle of ecliptic causes than the Moon stands almost upright).

Wow, i wanted to pick just one of these to comment on, but if i picked my favorites, you would have a ton of comments from me all over this gallery. Although I think my three favorites would have to be the peach moon, the september moon, and the snow moon and hawk.

Thanks for visiting my moon gallery, John, and thanks for the compliments. Another thank you for the web site link to Pratt's moon information page. There are some things there that are very interesting to me and gives me other ideas for some more pictures. Feel free to copy any of the pictures for use in a PowerPoint or however will work best for your class. I plan more moon shots in the future but weather has not been great here lately with plenty of haze not condusive to great moon pictures. Thanks again, Dan Bush
