At the end of 2006 I had a invitation of Felix Bettonvil to come to the observatory Roque de Los Muchachos (ORM) at La Palma. Felix is working at the ORM at the Dutch Open Telescope (DOT), a special telescope to observe "our" star the Sun.
This southern location is very suitable to observe meteor streams with a southern declination. In 2007 Carl Johannink and I decide to set up a small expedition at the ORM to observe the southern meteor stream the Southern Delta Aquariids (SDA). The observatory lies on a mountain at an altitude of 2200 meters. In the period of 25 july to 1 august 2008 the team (Carl Johannink, Michel Vandeputte, Klaas Jobse, Peter van Leuteren and I) observed during 7 nights, resulting in almost 6000 observed meteors. The pictures of the stars and meteors are presented in another gallery.
