In October 2001 my sister Wendy and I went on a holiday to Chios, Greece. We stayed in 'To Petrino' in a little, old and desolated village called Vessa. From there we surveyed the island by foot and by bicycle. This time of the year there were only a few tourists, and we felled we could really enjoy the beauty of this island.

Although cycling was sometimes hard because of the hills, at the end of the day we had a really satisfied feeling. During the day the weather was perfect for cycling and walking, in the evening temperature dropped quickly and we needed a thick sweater to keep warm. Our hostess Stella took care of us in the sense of providing us with a beautiful room to sleep and breakfast and dinner which was always varying and typical Greek. She also took care of our rental bikes.

This was a really relaxing holiday, we could do nothing but enjoy the beauty and quietness around us.
