Jola Dziubinska 15-Nov-2005 18:55
Bill, you are very talented. Your photos of Scotland made me desperately want to go and see your country. And to take some photos, too.
Amazing colors in your images are a great deal. Also the composition is excellent.
Very good work, Bill. Cheers!

Great stuff little brother! Most certainly a product of an outdoors man.
Cliff Newman 02-Oct-2005 22:54
Great collection Bill. I've added you to my favourites. I do notice that clouds figure prominently in your photos - possibly something to do with the Scottish weather. Thanks too for your comment on my PaD: the gull over Niagara Falls. I'm new to this and appreciate your comment.

Bill,
Thank you for your nice comments about my Scotland Gallery. I loved my time over there! My sister and I rented a car, and just drove all through the countryside. It was magnificent! And being that our last name was originally 'MacNaughton', there are some long ago family ties to your country! I thoroughly enjoy seeing your gorgeous shots of Scotland, as we certainly did not get to see everything we would have liked to! Thanks again for your visit to my gallery --
Mindy

Hi Bill. Loved your images which i stumbled across accidentally while browsing the web. Uncanny though how we have not bumped into each other over the past 6 months since your pictures and mine are in the same locations and some are very similar. You seem to have the same interests as i do for subject matter.

You have such beautiful countryside images.
Amazing place where you live. Love it.
Best best regards. Clara.

Thank you Bill for your comment on my tulip petal image. I really dithered over whether to buy the 105 macro lens as my second lens for the D70 but it's hardly off my camera. As I haven't yet got a telephoto zoom I seem to use it for everything, including ice hockey and ducks in the park.

Thank you for visiting my gallery and your nice compliment of my Christmas picture. I must say that was really an accident that it came out so nicely--beginner's luck.
I enjoy your galleries. We had a Scottish paintings exhibit at our New Orleans Museum and I was asked to do the flowers in the Great Hall urns for the preview party. I did all the things of Scotland, heather and thistles and the Scottish people were really surprised. Merry Christmas

Thanks for your comment on my photo. To keep from completely blowing out lights at night you might try setting your aperture around f/16 to f/22 with around a 30 second exposure (this will vary depending on the lighting) using a tripod.
Sally 04-Nov-2004 20:31
Bill, Such beautiful pictures...you do have a talent!
How nice to find something you love to do and be good at it too!
Thanks for sharing.
Best, Sally

New to photography? Damn I hate you! :-)

I've been at this for years, but still have no talent. Doesn't spoil my enjoyment though. You're off to a great start - keep up the good work!

Regards,

David

You had commented "Wow, is that natural or Photoshop ? Red sky at night.... Bill." on image http://www.pbase.com/image/33858423. This picture is straight from the camera. I get some interesting sunrises across my neighbor's field.

PS. I hope to get a chance to shoot your homeland sometime soon. The wife and I have been planning a Scotland vacation. Mostly for the castles; my wife is completely intrigued by Scotland.
Ed Knepley 26-Sep-2004 16:00
Bill, You asked a question about the technique for extending dynamic range. Here's a link that describes the specific application that I use http://www.dl-c.com/Temp/ (scroll down to White Papers and then to the article titled Extending the Dynamic Range of film). Googling the topic should bring up any number of hits. Lastly, although it's not the greatest example, I have a sample at http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/34129727

Good luck,
Ed Knepley

Hello Bill, so far as I see your photos, I must say, you're really talented to be a good photografer. I love to visit your albums.
Howard Gebeaux 08-Sep-2004 21:40
Thanks for checking my pic. I notice you seem to like nature. I live kind of in the sticks, so nature is my best subject. In a way, I'd like to be closer to a big city so I could take pictures there. But ....
Really like your sailing pictures, Sept. 6 or so I think?
