Smith's Family Garden Luau in Wailua - was a delight from beginning to end!
We took a tram ride around the 30-acre gardens and then watched the Imu ceremony where a traditional kalua pig was taken from the earthen pit (Imu).
Then a fabulous feast with kalua pork, beef teriyaki, chicken adobo, and sweet’n’sour mahimahi - and of course poi. Salads, side dishes and lots of desserts as well. Music and hula dancing kept us entertained during the meal.
After that was the Rhythm & Aloha show, with authentic performances from Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, Philippines, New Zealand, China and Japan in the open-air, torch-lit “Pele Amphitheater”
(complete with erupting volcano!). And there was actual lightning continuously behind the performers, but fortunately no rain! No - the lightning didn't show up in any of my pictures. :(
